ODILE HEBERT
About Odile
Odile is a fourth year student studying Advertising and minoring in Game Studies at the University of Oregon. She has ample experience in content creation, creative strategy, and being a part of a team as the Content Coordinator at UO Esports.
Right now, in advertising, short term goals and revenue are valued above all else, creating a vacuum of advertisers trying to find the ‘next big thing’. This inside the box thinking is what I hope to avoid in my creative pursuits within advertising. What matters most to me is prioritizing people over profit, questioning the status quo, engaging with the audience, and flipping the script on outdated narratives.
Often in advertising the word ‘contemporary’ is reduced to a tool for relevance, something to be leveraged and used to garner audience retention. However relevance without depth or critique is meaningless. My creative work aims to reclaim contemporary as a critical lens, one that interrogates the present moment rather than passively reflect it.
What distinguishes my approach to contemporary advertising is social encoding. The intentional fusion of messaging and social critique has defined my academic and professional journey thus far.
